Hackathon rules

Four rules keep the Databases Hackathon fair for everyone. Read them before you start building.

  1. 01

    Build from scratch

Every project must be entirely new and built during the hackathon. Pre-existing projects and code written before October 19 are not allowed, though open-source libraries and frameworks are fine. This keeps the competition fair for everyone.

  2. 02

    Solo hackers only

This is a solo hackathon. Teams are not allowed, so every project must be designed, built, and submitted by one person.

  3. 03

    Build on Appwrite Databases

Every project must be built on one of Appwrite's five database types: TablesDB, DocumentsDB, VectorsDB, Managed PostgreSQL, or Managed MySQL. Projects that don't use one won't qualify for judging.

  4. 04

    Submission deadline

All projects must be submitted by 11:59 PM PT on October 31, 2026, when the hackathon ends. Late submissions will not be accepted, so plan your time wisely!
