Who can participate in the hackathon?
Anyone who wants to build with Appwrite is welcome! Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, there’s a place for you.
Can I participate as a team?
No. This is a solo hackathon, so every project must be built and submitted by one person.
What do I need to build?
Any project you like, as long as it's built on one of Appwrite's five database types: TablesDB, DocumentsDB, VectorsDB, Managed PostgreSQL, or Managed MySQL.
When does the hackathon run?
From Monday, October 19 to Saturday, October 31, 2026, Pacific Time (PT). Submissions close at 11:59 PM PT on October 31.
What can I win?
First place wins the Appwriter, our custom mechanical keyboard. Second and third place each pick merch from the Appwrite Store.
How much does it cost to participate?
Entering is completely free! Managed PostgreSQL and Managed MySQL run on dedicated infrastructure, so check Appwrite's pricing before you pick one of them.
What are the judging criteria?
Projects are judged on four criteria: idea and innovation, technical execution, design and experience, and usage of Appwrite Databases.
Can I use pre-built code or libraries?
You can use open-source libraries and frameworks (list them in your tech stack), but your project must be entirely new. Pre-existing projects and code written before October 19 aren't allowed.
Where can I get help?
Join the Appwrite Discord to ask questions, get unstuck, and share your progress with the community.
How do I submit my project?
Sign in with GitHub, open your dashboard, and click Submit project. You'll need a link to your public repository and a demo video of 2 to 3 minutes at most. A live demo link is optional. Submit before 11:59 PM PT on October 31.
